Happy 25th Birthday Sonic!

Let’s take a walk back into time (the 90’s specifically!) where we were all intrigued and obsessed with our Sega Genesis video game consoles when the infamous blue spikey character that Sega created was introduced. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog and the Japanese video game developer commissioned a renowned American body shop to carry out a special project of which was unveiled at Comic-Con in San Diego last month:

Painted in ‘Sonic Blue’ BASF R-M candy colour paint, the exterior is complimented by a custom vinyl Sonic the Hedgehog design, custom ‘Sonic Yellow’ Honda logos and ‘Sonic Black’ painted grill. Topped off with 18-inch custom XXR wheels and tires painted to represent Sonic’s famous red shoes and gold rings featured in the game, the finished product truly is a sight to behold.

Under the hood lies a 1.5-litre Turbocharged DOHC engine and Injen Cold Air Intake system, filtering through an Injen T304 Stainless Catback exhaust system.

Sega will have the opportunity to show off its ‘Sonic Civic’ at SEMA in Las Vegas from November 1 to 4 if you’re interested to checking this beauty out in person!

Would you consider a custom paint job like this next time you’re at your auto body shop? Pender Auto Body is always up for a real challenge 🙂
